EnerMeF

Cooperation with industry and International Groups
The EnerMeF group inside CCTA has tried to obtain funds from industry or other institutions not related with State funding. The project “Development of a Pilot Plant for Energy Production from Biomass” is financed by a regional programme named PRAI Alentejo, from 2005-2007, as it is a project for regional developing and supporting also research activities through the university.

The project, POCTI/ENR/60035/2004, “Development of an integrated unit for free cooling of buildings”, is completed supported by FCT. However, the consortium team is participated by CITEVE, as a Technological Centre for textile industry that disseminates the obtained knowledge from the project through the enterprises members of the technological centre. This cooperation is granted by a contract between UBI and CITEVE.

Project 2xTRA – Technology Transfer of Research Results in the Atlantic Area (Interreg IIIB) intended to contribute in the application of measures of promotion and development of excellence centres, to improve and increase the innovation capacity of regional systems through the creation of a polycentric structure that binds the eligible regions of the Atlantic Area, promoting the activities of technology transfer in a transactional scope. The University of Beira Interior – Electromechanical Department (UBI-DEM) was one of the partners of this international project including institutions from Spain, France, United Kingdom and Ireland, acquiring competences in technology transfer from the partner’s experience. The dissemination of the R&D competences of the UBI and in particular from DEM to the regional enterprises aimed promoting technology transfer. During the project, the UBI partner done several collaborative publications (5) and organized a one conference (“R&D Projects with SMEs”, University of Beira Interior, 27th October 2005). All relevant documents and outputs of the 2xTRA project can be found in www.2xtra.info.

In the area of renewable energies, EnerMeF group maintains close collaboration with the School of Industrial Engineering and the Faculty of Sciences of Extremadura University, Spain. Three collaborative papers were published in ISI journals.
